Pastor Steven Furtick goes deep into what our relationship with God often consists of and ties in the story of Mary and Joseph. He talks about how hard it is to explain to people the experiences we go through as Christians at times. God often seems unorthodox in His ways of doing things and to be honest He can be very confusing. And we dont understand the suffering, the embarrassment and the shame that we have to go through on occasion. But we can trust that our strange lives reflect a special and loving God that has no boundaries or limits. And truth be told He's way more concerned about our faith than our feelings.
Upon listening to this sermon may you be reminded that trust in God is built on the ugly, not on the beautiful. If it were the other way around we would always live conditional lives, which is contrary to the God we serve who loves us unconditionally...and really wants us to be the same toward Him and others. Isaiah 55:8 says His thoughts are not our thoughts and His ways are not our ways. We can praise the Lord on that alone! Thank God He is different. Thank God His thoughts are higher than ours. Thank God He is better. Thank God He is smarter. Thank God He is more merciful. Thank God He is love. Thank God He is who He is cause if He weren't, we'd all be in REALLY bad shape!
God's plan in saving the world back then with the birth of Jesus is no different than what He does to save us and help us grow each day. Like Mary and Joseph it takes putting us in awkward situations, but they turn into amazing stories. It takes dark moments, but they turn into bright memories. It takes inconvenience in order to bring about inspiration. This is how we become like God. And in the process we are transformed to impact the world around us as we're able to give other's hope and strength to look onward and upward to Christ.
